Welcome and Introductions to AHDI/MTIA Advocacy on the Move

Welcome AHDI and MTIA members. As you may know, I'll be moving to Washington DC to begin building a stronger advocacy and visibility presence for the clinical documentation sector and our associations. The timing of this move couldn't be better considering the many policy issues arising now in our nation's capitol around the exchange of health information, the quality of the information exchanged, and how we will insure privacy and security.

Thank you for joining me as we begin this important journey across the United States. I'll be stopping along the way to meet with members and other professionals to learn what they are doing to advance relevant, useable clinical information to optimize healthcare delivery.

Right now I'm knee deep in boxes getting ready for the movers to come. I embark on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Please consider subscribing to this blog and post your comments as we begin the next era in our associations' history.

It has been a long time in coming, but it truly is exciting that our associations will have a consistent presence in Washington. Now more than ever, we need to position ourselves at the forefront of change in clinical documentation. Decisions are being made that will impact the way healthcare data is captured, stored, accessed and used. We need to carve out our domain in that arena so that the interpretive skill set of the MT is not lost in the mad rush to streamline data capture, and that when all is said and done, the best documentation processes are instituted - processes that create the best outcomes for truly coordinated patient care delivery.

Good luck on your trip, and drive safely. :)

How exciting that the day for your departure on your cross-country trip is almost here!

We will let all our April 28 Symposium attendees in Shreveport know about your trip and how important it is.

We will be thinking of you and wishing you well!

This new chapter for our association is also a new chapter in the journey of your life. We are grateful to have you knocking on doors in DC on behalf of the medical transcriptionists and the clinical documentation sector. AHDI and MTIA can trust that our self-proclaimed "bulldog" will leave no stone unturned and continue to tread through the challenging waters to position us where we need to be in healthcare delivery.

As you travel across this great country, may you reflect on how we have come in the last 3 1/2 years and how far we need to go. Consider the new chapter of your life that is awaiting you in Washington DC, the relationships you will develop, the experiences that will cause you to grow professionally and personally - how exciting that will be! Drive safely and carry our banner proudly. May the sun rise up to greet you and may the wind be always at your back!
